The Prescott Noon Lions Club has collected and shipped nearly nearly 53 million pounds of recyclable newsprint and other paper over the last 15 years, thanks to area residents’ ever-growing participation in the Club’s newspaper recycling program. That program yields a better environment, as well as critical funding for more than 40 worthy causes. But mountains of paper also posed a problem for our local Lions: How to safely and cost-effectively hold roughly 36 tons of newspapers and magazines – collected by volunteers each week from Lions’ bins citywide – while awaiting transport for recycling.
